Download Virtual Benchrest II

UPDATED! Version 2.04, October 15, 1998. Installers updated May 23, 1999. Windows installer now includes Java Runtime Environment 1.1.8. Mac Installer  optimized for MRJ 2.1

Windows
95/98/NT
Download the Windows 95/NT setup jvbr2_04.exe (about 3.5 MB) This is a larger download but it includes the Java Runtime Environment 1.1.8 that is needed to use the program. Simply run the downloaded executable file and follow the familiar setup instructions to install Virtual Benchrest II and the required Java runtime components. If you download this option, you will not need a separately installed Java runtime.

We recommend uninstalling any previous version of Virtual Benchrest prior to installing this new version.

MacOS
w/MRJ 2.0
Download the MacOS installer jvbr2_04.bin (about 1.9 MB) A bin file containing a Virtual Benchrest installer for MacOS. Double-click on the bin file, or drop it into your StuffIt Expander to extract the installer, and then run the extracted installer by double-clicking on it. The installer will place all the program components in a folder on your hard disk and drop a Virtual Benchrest icon on your desktop to run the program. Requires prior installation of Apple's MRJ 2.1 (Note that MacOS 8.1 ships with MRJ 2.0 installed)

Any platform with a JavaSoft compatible Java 1.1 runtime
Download Java self-installer jvbr2_04.class (761 KB) This smaller download option, a self-installing Java class file, requires that you have an installed JavaSoft-compatible Java 1.1.runtime to install and use the software. To install the software, run this class file with your java interpreter, for example

java jvbr2_04

and it will self-extract in a user-friendly installation program. The java installer will also create a batch or script file that can be used to easily start the program.

Java 1.1 runtimes for Windows and Solaris platforms are freely available from Sun Microsystems's JavaSoft Division. JavaSoft also provides links to a number of third-party ports of Java to various other platforms. Virtual Benchrest will not work properly with the Microsoft Java runtime.

Note: Virtual Benchrest has not been tested with Java 2.

Virtual Benchrest has been tested with Java 1.1 on Windows 95, NT 4.0, Solaris 2.6(Intel), Solaris 2.5.1(Sparc) and MacOS 8.1 w/MRJ 2.1.
